Srinagar, Oct 09 (KNO): In a significant development in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kashmir has successfully recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance and arrested accused person involved in the commission of crime.
Besides, two drug peddlers have been arrested in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Acting on specific information, a dedicated team of ANTF conducted a meticulously planned operation at Naina Batpora, District Pulwama, leading to the recovery of 56 Kgs of Charas Powder, the spokesman said.
The contraband was concealed in a manner intended to avoid detection, but the swift and professional response of the ANTF personnel ensured its seizure. The accused, identified as Gul Mohd Mallah son of Ghulam Qadir Mallah resident of Naina Batpora Pulwama was apprehended on the spot.
Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at ANTF Kashmir, and further investigation has been taken up to unearth the backward and forward linkages of the narcotic supply chain.
Meanwhile in Kulgam, a police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar during patrolling, intercepted two suspicious persons carrying bags. They have been identified as Mohd Yaseen Sheikh son of Jalal din Sheikh and Shahid Ahmad Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh residents of Amanpora.
During the search, officers were able to recover 4.458 Kgs of Cannabis leaves like substance from their possession. They have been arrested and accordingly a case vide FIR No. 209/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated, the statement reads, adding that these operations underscores the zero-tolerance policy of Jammu and Kashmir Police towards narcotics-related offences—(KNO)
